France and Italy plunge into recession

Data show that French GDP contracted 5.8% in the first three months of 2020, a sharp drop in activity caused by coronavirus blockage, reports TheGuardian.

Italian GDP shrank by 4.7% in the first quarter of 2020, new figures from ISTAT show – this is the biggest drop since the start of the 1995 data series.
