About half a million New Yorkers are unemployed – or will soon be

Bill de Blasio Economic hardship due to coronavirus pandemic is deteriorating, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio told a news conference this morning.

“When it comes to the economic battle, when it comes to fighting to make sure people have the food they need, that situation is not getting better, it’s getting worse,” he said, citing job losses.

He added that about 500,000 people are unemployed or will be in the very near future. “This is the kind of unemployment and economic concern,” de Blasio said, CNN reported.
