English championship clubs risk losing 1.3 billion euros due to the emergency caused by coronavirus, while there is a lack of agreement to reduce the salaries of footballers.
In the video conference held with the captains and coaches of the Premier League teams, it was clarified why the clubs demand that the footballers accept the reduction of salaries.
The agreement was not reached, with the Football League in England announcing that talks would continue, also because if the championship does not resume, the losses will be colossal. Of the € 1.3 billion that elite clubs risk losing, € 865 million is the money that should be returned to official match broadcasters.
According to estimates, most of this figure would be covered by a 30 percent reduction in the salaries of football stars playing on the island. The Footballers’ Association is also demanding an increase in the 25m-euro contribution granted by the Football League to people facing emergencies.
